- 5:00 PMNo weekends or holidays! Overview: The Laboratory Support
Technician (LST III) is part of the provider care team acting in a
support capacity for reports, data and scheduling functions of the
laboratory. This position is responsible for accurate, timely and
effective provision of laboratory support mechanisms. The LST III
will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in
line with the Mercy Signature Service Standards with all customer
interactions. The LST III is responsible for the skillful
acquisition of all required types of specimens for laboratory
testing utilizing safe, accurate, effective, professional
methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements
and lab policies as required. The LST III will be responsible for
all processing, transport and referral of all types of laboratory
specimens and reports as required. The LST III is responsible for
limited laboratory testing and for assisting technologists in all
appropriate test methods as required. Perform duties and
responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values,
and Mercy Service Standards.Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: One year phlebotomy or clinical laboratory
experience. Previous Mercy LST II designation or equivalent
- Other: The LST III position must: satisfactorily complete the
specific facility competencies, including but not limited to
checklist, written examination, management observation, etc., to be
eligible for advancement to the next higher job description. Have
no active disciplinary actions or active performance improvement
plans Successfully complete the probationary period.
- Preferred Education: College level chemistry, Biology or other

Remains a steward of resources in regards to inventory, time
management, and meeting productivity standards
Demonstrates effective computer skills for both electronic
communication and data management.
Organizes, prioritizes and completes work to meet defined
turnaround time and expectations.
Assesses issues that arise and communicates to appropriate
stakeholders for resolution as required.
Participates in effective inventory control as needed.
Uses skills in accordance with departmental and regulatory
standards for effective and timely, acquisition, labeling and
transfer or all appropriate laboratory specimens.
Demonstrates responsibility for timely, effective and accurate
processing and reporting of post-analytical laboratory results.
Utilizes safe, accurate, effective, professional methodologies
while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab

processing, transfer and reference of required laboratory specimens
in accordance with applicable regulatory standards and departmental
Assists with processing of specimens and reports in laboratory
specialty areas as required.

Complies with departmental operational policy s to meet staffing
plan and department needs.

direction of laboratory leadership.

chemical hygiene plan, exposure control plan, blood borne
10 CE units annually
Completes mandatory courses on time
