SUMMARY AND MISSIONThe Manager, Category Management plays a key
role in bringing the category strategy to life with the customer
and customer sales team.This is accomplished at the customer in
part by developing a relationship with the merchant by providing
analytics and insights that help to drive their business while
enabling and unlocking growth for NCP through our category and
shopper solutions framework. Through this relationship, the
category manager becomes the expert on the Walmart dry coffee
category and is able to provide guidance and recommendations
internally with the sales team, commercial development team, and
brand team for assortment, impacts to the customer business and ask
for support in delivering customer requests or solutions. This role
is located in Rogers, AR.SUMMARY OF KEY
RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities and essential job functions
include but are not limited to the following:LEADERSHIP -
Developing capabilities, and modeling how we work together:- Foster
a consultative approach that helps Walmart set category direction-
Develop trust with the Walmart buying team via an objective
category focus and by consistently being a valued strategic partner
who identifies growth opportunities- Contributes to building a
cohesive culture and team connections across Headquarters and Field
Category Development teams.- Represents the Customer Category
Development team with senior level internal audiences.BUSINESS
REQUIREMENTS - Providing functional expertise and executing
functional responsibilities:- Leads the creation of coffee category
strategy recommendations informed by societal macro trends,
category growth drivers and thought leadership.- Strategic support
in the development of e-commerce business- Interprets shopper and
consumer research to drive category & NCP focused solutions-
Provides recommendations to define optimal assortment, aisle flow &
product merchandising - Identifies coffee/NCP growth opportunities
grounded in market trends, shopper insights and business analytics-
Collaborates with HQ Category Development team to generate Walmart
specific shopper insights- Responsible for creation and maintenance
of the customer category 101 document- Responsible for weekly/adhoc
internal category reporting and SOS/modular update
reportingPLANNING AND EXECUTION- Developing strategic and
operational plans, leading execution, and measuring results:- Works
closely with the Sr. Manager, Category Development to craft annual
strategic priorities and goals for the Walmart/Sam's Category
Development team- Works closely with sales and Seattle commercial
development teams in the planning process to identify strategic
opportunities- Acts as a conduit to align key stakeholders on
business priorities- Support Walmart/Sam's team JBP and line review
preparation for meetings with buyer, as
appropriateQUALIFICATIONSSUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE- 4+ years work
experience in Category Development / Category Management roles in
the CPG industry- 7+ years of relevant work experience in category,
sales, marketing, etc.- Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline-
Experience in shopper insights preferred- Experience working with
Walmart and/or Sam's required-Experience with Luminate preferred-
Experience with Syndicated data such as IRI, and other data
resources (Numerator, Kantar etc.) requiredREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE,
SKILLS AND ABILITIES- Ability to apply knowledge of
multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve
successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities.-
Strong financial acumen, ability to negotiate and reach win/win
agreements.- Understands the CPG industry and is able to
commercialize an idea.- Ability to sell an idea persuasively and to
collaborate with others.- Ability to build diverse collaborative
relationships.- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both
orally and in writing.- Comfort communicating and presenting to
senior level audiences.- Ability to work in a dynamic, changing,
