Overview:Under general supervision, administer anesthetics to patients undergoing surgical and obstetrical proceduresResponsibilities:**PREANESTHETIC REVIEW AND PREPARATIONStandard AActively seeks and accepts input and consultation from supervising physician regarding:Patients historyPhysical conditionAllergiesAppropriately interprets laboratory and diagnostic testsOther pertinent clinical informationStandard BReviews preoperative evaluation performed by staff physician.Meets with patient and/or patients family preoperatively.**INTRAOPERATIVE CAREStandard AObtains, prepares, and utilizes:All equipmentMonitorsSupplies and drugsSpecial equipment (airway cart, arterial lines, other unusual equipment)Selects, appropriately administers, and documents:Anesthetic drugsBlood and productsFluids (crystalloids and colloids)Standard BAccurately documents all significant anesthesia events and the seven key elements for coding and billing purposes.Standard CPerforms, manages, and documents anesthetic techniques:Airway managementMonitoring modalitiesEarly recognition and treatment of unusual patient responsesStandard DRequests consultation and guidance from anesthesiologist when indicated during the intraoperative period and uses good judgment in working within the team model.Standard EEffectively manages patient response during induction and emergence from anesthesia, responds rapidly and treats appropriately any complication that may occur during this time. Delivers supportive treatment to ensure patient stability during transfer to PACU and gives accurate and detailed report to the PACU nurses.**ABILITY TO MANAGE DIFFERENT MODES OF ANESTHIAStandard AOverall ability to manage a wide range of clinical scenarios in general anesthetic settings appropriately and knowledgeablyStandard BOverall ability to manage a wide range of clinical scenarios in a regional anesthetic settingStandard CAbility to perform ancillary procedures:IV catheter placementDouble lumen tube management and placementArterial line management and placementIV administration of vasoactive medicationsResuscitation techniques (ACLS, unstable patients, etc.)**PARTICIPATES IN THE CONTINOUS IMPROVEMENT OF CLNICAL, ADMINISTRATIVE AND QUALITY OUTCOMESStandard AParticipates in effective problem solving and follows proper channels in instituting solutions. Is willing and eager to support quality improvement issue, leadership issues within the OR and teamwork with all applicable relationships (RR, PACU, OR staff, Surgeons, others)Standard BIs effective and willing to participate in the training and education of students**ATTITUDE AND DEMEANORStandard AContributes to the overall positive attitude by exhibiting professional courtesy to patients, surgeons, coworkers, and all OR staffStandard BActs with integrity and confidentiality when dealing with patient and practice informationStandard CWillingly accepts other related duties and assignments as needed.Standard DAdheres to NARMC Ethical Conduct**TEAM CONCEPTStandard AAccepts role within model regarding specific duties and responsibilities and understands the importance and benefits of the various roles the CRNAs and Physicians play in maximizing patient care and efficiency and is willing to accept this role. Tends to de-escalate problems rather than escalating themQualifications:Education:Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and from a school of anesthesia accredited by the Council of Accreditation of Schools of AnesthesiaMust have a copy of a diploma or offical transcript of the highest level of educationDegrees, Licensures and/or Certifications:Has current Arkansas Advanced Nurse Practitioners licenseHas current ACLS certificationHas current PALS certificationHas current BLS certificationHas to provide copy of diplomaKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Completed yearly in-services (Infection Control, Fire Safety, Safety Management, and Care Learning).Participated in a work related in-service.Attends special committee, department and in-service meeting when scheduled and/or required.Presents in-service for unit.Must be able to read, write, speak and understand Englishby Jobble
