Overview:

Responsible for assisting the Chief Nursing Officer in the delivery of safe, quality and cost efficient care by having competent staff members in the PCU. Meets customer service satisfaction goals. Works collaboratively and effectively with other administrative personnel, physicians and staff from other areas throughout the Hospital to enhance communication, share pertinent data and improve processes across the continum.

The PCU is a unit that provides care to patients age 18 and older requiring a higher level of care and surveillance than a general med/surg floor but not presenting the need for critical care in an intensive care unit.

The PCU patient population at any given time is a cross sample of the hospital census as a whole, just to a slightly more acute degree. For this reason, a broad scope is needed for those wishing to work in PCU as they care for all systems from neuro to cardiac to GI and beyond. Patients in the progressive care unit require nursing assessment and reassessment every 2 to 4 hours.

Clinically, they may present with a variety of medical needs including but not limited to: New onset asymptomatic dysrhythmia responding to treatment; hypertensive or hypotensive urgency; hemodynamically stable myocardial infarction; stable neurological deficits; confusion/agitation/substance withdrawal; respiratory distress or evidence of compromised gas exchange when hemodynamically stable and responding to treatment; maintenance/initiation of BIPAP/CPAP or high flow oxygen therapy in which further deterioration is unlikely after initiation.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum three years nursing experience. Previous leadership/management experience preferred.
  • Required Education: Graduate of an approved school of nursing
  • Preferred Education: BSN
  • Certifications: BLS American Heart Association

    We Offer Great Benefits:

Day-one comprehensive health, vision and dental coverage, PTO, tuition reimbursement and employer-matched retirement funds are just a few of the great benefits offered to eligible co-workers, including those working 32 hours or more per pay period!

Up to $6,000 in Relocation Assistance!
