SUMMARY: The Category Manager is a thought leader and an integral
part of the Walmart + Growth Channels sales team as they develop
consumer and retailer centric strategies/tactics to achieve
increased market share, sales, and profitability. Responsibilities
include working to deliver the most effective category, shopper,
and channel-specific insights to drive category growth.
Additionally, the Senior Category Manager is expected to lead the
usage and development of tools and capabilities. They will also
support the development of Mizkan brands through proactive mining
of data (Madrid, Nielsen, Numerator, Retail Link, Kantar, Shopper
Research...etc) for business and analytical insights with the
purpose of turning them into actionable recommendations and
high-quality business plans that grow Mizkan's categories and
create long term value for retailers and Mizkan. Finally, the
Category Manager will support planning and have active
participation in key customer engagements.
How You Will Create Value in This Role:
Develop relevant reporting tools and customize detailed reports as
needed to provide the organization with an informed foundation and
strong POV to manage the business
Ensure timely, clear, and robust delivery of category performance
reporting, market trends, customer insights, and actionable
analytics to all retailers.
Objectively evaluate category and shopper data from multiple
sources to draw insights that lead to conclusions and compelling
presentation of stories with actionable recommendations that
promote overall category growth and profitability.
Build comprehensive knowledge of the products, attributes,
strategies, tactics, and competitive trends in the marketplace for
assigned categories.
Lead the category growth planning process, from strategy to
execution including insights and analytics that translate to
shopper experience recommendations, and influence assortment and
shelving as well.
Collaborate extensively with internal departments (e.g. Sales,
Marketing, Shopper Insights, Operations, etc.) to ensure Mizkan's
success across all retailers.
Partner with multiple cross-functional teams to identify how to
elevate delivery of current and future shopper insights from
existing available data sources from category to department level
needs.
Provide key insights to Sales team for translation to the planogram
process.
Work closely with the Mizkan Shopper Insights team to identify key
knowledge gaps and research needs to develop a comprehensive plan
for Walmart + Growth Channels in-store and online.
Identify and understand who the Pasta Sauce shopper is both online
and in store and translate those findings to the Walmart + Growth
Channels shopper and aisle.
Stay abreast of and uncover emerging global trends and identify how
those impact the category, at Walmart and Growth Channels.
Develop and foster, through timely and professional communication,
business relationships with retailers key contacts that establish
Mizkan as lead source for all category strategy needs.
Deliver fully integrated consumer, category, and market insight to
guide retailers strategic choices and tactical actions, leading to
market share growth.
Build a best-in-class relationship with the retailers
cross-functional team, including proactive omni department
recommendations that are delivering against their shoppers needs,
retailers KPIs, and are operationally executable.
Enhance Mizkan's relationship with Walmart + Growth Channels and be
viewed as an objective category-first thought leader.
Drive improvements in the business through assortment, shelving,
pricing, and promotion analyses.
Build and deliver compelling PowerPoint presentations story boards
to a variety of stakeholders to influence key outcomes.
Work back with HQ teams by providing data and input to help develop
and implement best in class strategies for Mizkan and all
appropriate brands within the category.
Drive positive change by deploying capabilities: Joint Business
Planning, Omni Channel and Commercial Innovation.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in a field of study related
to the job.
Team oriented with the ability to work independently.
Minimum 8+ years Category Management and Data Analytics experience
(Shopper Insights +)
Retailer platform experience (Madrid, Retail Link, 1010 Data,
Nielsen, and IRI) 6+ Years
Advanced Microsoft platform experience with 8+ years in PowerPoint
experience
6+ Years experience with Numerator, Nielsen, IRI, and other
syndicated data sources
Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, slicers, data
visualization, dashboard creation, macro's and formulas to automate
and contribute to reports 8+ years.
JDA space planning software experience 6+ years.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to details.
Extensive experience with Data Visualization using tools like
PowerBI (preferred) and Tableau 6+ Years.
Strong proficiency in fundamental quantitative and qualitative
primary research methodologies, syndicated data, social listening
tools and analytic approaches.
Ability to match appropriate methodologies to business needs and
insights questions. Experience and expertise in core market
research principles - sample design, data collection and analysis
techniques, appropriate action standards.
Strong, persuasive storytelling skills and experience with weaving
insights from multiple data sources into a cohesive and compelling
narrative.
Ability to mine cultural, socioeconomic, and category trends for
strategic opportunity areas and recommend appropriate business
strategy and action.
Develop an objective point of view and feel comfortable sharing it,
be seen as a strategic thought leader on the team.
