Job Title: Electrical Engineer Department: Engineering Reports
To: Vice President of Engineering FLSA Status: Exempt Safety
Sensitive: Yes Summary The Electrical Engineer supports the
cooperative’s mission by applying engineering principles to ensure
the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of electric power and
fiber-optic services. This role contributes to the planning,
design, analysis, and continuous improvement of the electric
distribution system and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network. Working
collaboratively across departments, the Electrical Engineer assists
in developing engineering solutions that enhance system
performance, support system expansion, and improve member and
subscriber satisfaction. This position also supports the
integration of communications infrastructure with electric
operations to advance automation, reliability, and smart grid

at all times. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Promote and
adhere to all safety policies and regulatory requirements,
including OSHA, NESC, and NEC standards. Design and support the
development of electric distribution and FTTH infrastructure,
including system improvements and expansions. Perform engineering
analysis such as load studies, voltage regulation, phase balancing,
and equipment sizing. Evaluate system performance and recommend
solutions to improve reliability, efficiency, and capacity. Lead or
support engineering design and review for construction and
maintenance projects. Collaborate with operations, contractors, and
vendors to coordinate system upgrades and ensure successful project
execution. Prepare cost estimates, material specifications, and
project timelines. Ensure compliance with RUS specifications,
regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Provide technical
support during outages, troubleshooting, and restoration efforts.
Contribute to short- and long-term system planning, including load
growth, infrastructure upgrades, and grid modernization
initiatives. Support integration of fiber communication systems to
enhance system automation and operational visibility. Assist with
storm response activities, including damage assessment and service
restoration coordination. Address member and subscriber concerns
related to electric and fiber services in a professional and timely
manner. Perform additional duties as needed to support engineering
and operational objectives. Competencies: Problem Solving: Uses

and commitment to results. Qualifications Education & Experience
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required.
Progressive experience in electric distribution engineering or a
related field preferred. Experience with utility systems,
construction standards, or infrastructure planning is highly
desirable. Exposure to fiber-optic or broadband systems is a plus.
Licensure Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) License within a
reasonable timeframe. Knowledge & Skills Working knowledge of
electric distribution design, construction, and operations.
Familiarity with NESC, NEC, OSHA regulations, and utility industry
standards. Experience with engineering and design software (e.g.,
Milsoft, AutoCAD, or similar). Strong analytical, organizational,
and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities
and meet deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication
skills.
