Job Title: Design & Communications Specialist Department: Public
Relations Reports To: Director of Public Relations & Marketing FLSA
Status: Non-exempt Safety Sensitive: No Summary The Design &
Communications Specialist supports communications and marketing
efforts for the Cooperative and its subsidiary, BOLT Fiber, by
developing clear, engaging, and visually consistent materials
across print and digital platforms. This position blends graphic
design, content support, and digital communications to help
translate complex electric and broadband information into
accessible, member-focused messaging that builds understanding,
trust, and connection. Standards of Excellence All employees are

integrity at all times. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Design and produce visual materials for print and digital use,
including social media graphics, flyers, brochures, signage,
presentations, email graphics, and basic video or motion assets.
Maintain and apply consistent visual identity and brand standards
for the Cooperative and its subsidiary. Develop visual content that
supports member education, including topics such as electric
reliability, broadband services, construction updates, outages,
rates, and service information. Assist with development and
formatting of content for newsletters, website pages, and member
communications. Support Public Relations and Marketing initiatives
by contributing to campaigns, storytelling efforts, and member
outreach communications. Assist with website updates, including
content changes, layout adjustments, and visual enhancements.
Ensure digital content is clear, accessible, and aligned with
communication and brand standards. Collaborate with internal
departments, including Public Relations, Marketing, Broadband,
Member Services, and Operations to support communication needs.
Prepare and organize design files for print production and
coordinate with vendors, printers, or external partners as needed.
Manage multiple design and communication projects simultaneously
while meeting deadlines and quality expectations. Stay current on
design trends, communication best practices, and accessibility
standards relevant to utilities and broadband services. Identify
opportunities to improve visual communication, messaging clarity,
and efficiency across member-facing materials. Perform additional
duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor. Competencies

into simple, accessible messaging. Attention to Detail – Ensures
accuracy, consistency, and quality across all communications and

projects and deadlines while maintaining high-quality work.
Collaboration – Works effectively with internal teams and external
partners to support communication initiatives. Technology
Proficiency – Utilizes design software, content management systems,
and digital tools to support communications. Adaptability – Adjusts
to changing priorities, projects, and communication needs in a
fast-paced environment. Qualifications Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or
related field, or equivalent professional experience. Four (4)
years of experience in design, communications, or a related role
preferred. Experience in utilities, broadband, or public service
organizations preferred. Knowledge & Skills Proficiency in Adobe
Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop). Strong
understanding of layout, typography, and visual storytelling.
Ability to communicate complex information clearly to non-technical
audiences. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a
deadline-driven environment.
